S. P. P. Thorat
Shankarrao Pandurang Patil Thorat (born 12 August 1906; date of death unknown) was an Indian Army former Lieutenant General who led the Eastern Command in the lead up to the 1962 Sino-Indian War.[1]
He was born on 12 August 1906, in Vadgaon village in the erstwhile princely state of Kolhapur.[citation needed]
During World War II, Colonel Thorat commanded battalion-level formations fighting against Japanese forces.[2]
